Work with Attributes

An Attribute is a value the user of an authoring tool defines. For example, Name, Design Pressure or Length (as opposed to a property, which is an intrinsic value of the data object itself and may also be referred to as metadata). When you extend a Class all its attributes are inherited by its target and its child classes. Such attribute values can be overridden if required. It is recommended that the attribute identifier value does not contain white space.

When associating an Attribute to a Class, the Attribute can have properties based on the instantiation. For example, the Number may carry a different label of Name on two different Classes. That is, on a Physical Class it will be Asset Number and on a Document Class it will be Document Number.
